New Years in February

Did you know it’s Chinese New Year this week?

Me neither but I thought it was appropriate.

If I’m honest, I’m not a huge New Year’s eve resolution or goals kind of girl. I feel like it takes me most of January to get back into my groove where I’m ready to even consider what I would like for the year.

This year, our low-key pizza and pajama New Year’s eve party with just our family and a few close friends, is exactly where I’m going to start. It was perfect - The no fuss about it, the laughter as we played simply and silly games, the fact that it was small and intimate so I was actually able to connect and have incredible conversation with each and every person whom I love. At first we thought there was no way we’d make it to midnight. Next thing we know, we were having so much fun that we actually almost missed it!

THAT RIGHT THERE is what I want more of this year. Moments that fulfill me with sheer joy and connection. I have a feeling you want that too.

If you’re anything like me and haven’t given much thought about what you want this year, I invite you to join me in a little challenge.

No, we’re not going to write our SMART goals or even put together a vision board (although those are all great). For those of us that don’t have the time to put those together, this is for you!

  1. Grab a sheet of paper or simply open up your phone.

  2. Take a minute to think about different areas of your life… relationships, skills/ education, fun/ recreation

  3. Start a list of 25 things you would like to see yourself doing this year. This is different from putting pressure on yourself to come up with goals. So much more fun!

  4. Some ideas to consider:

    1. Bucket list item

    2. Vacations

    3. A skill you’d like to learn

    4. A hobby you’d like to spend time on

Now - Before you begin, do not pressure yourself to finish this all at once. This may be difficult for you to finish in one sitting. But then you’re driving, listening to the radio or just taking a walk and an idea pops up, go and add it to your list. This is your time to have a little fun.

Why is doing this so important?

You’ve worked your 🍑off. It’s time to be a little selfish and fill your cup with moments of fun and joy. You may have heard the saying -  Where focus goes, energy flows. Writing things down and revisiting them will serve as a reminder to actually do them.

I’m working on my list and thought I’d share what I’ve started with (I’ve only gotten to 12 so far! 🥴). So many times we get the best ideas from each other. I’d love to hear some of yours!

Click HERE if you’d like a Bingo pdf to download so you can write your 25 things and tick them off, one by one. Wouldn’t it be fun if we came up with a fun prize when we fill out our cards?
